Are you worried that you’ve missed all the worthwhile tech events this year? That couldn’t be further from the truth. No matter where you are in the world, there’s probably a great tech conference a short drive or flight away. Here are the ones that we’re most excited about.
EuroIA: September 27, Dublin, Ireland
EuroIA has been making appearances all over Europe. This year, the event geared towards information architects is stopping over in Dublin. The theme this year is humanology. This is a celebration of the connection between humans and technology. It may be one of the most organic events you attend this year. It’s organized by volunteers entirely.
If you go, you can attend workshops on:
- VR and AR UX experience
- Testing for disruptive technologies
- Enhancing museum visits with UX technology
- Surgical UX
- Much more
Refresh: September 27, Tallinn, Estonia
This will be the third year for Refresh. This year’s session will feature 20 guest features. Make a reservation for your team to see presentations on topics such as front-end design, UX, and project management. You’ll also find plenty of opportunities to network with other people in the tech space.
This conf focuses on product and front-end design. Make a reservation to sit on sessions led by speakers from Google, MailChimp, Microsoft, Audible, NPR, and The Financial Times.
JupyterCon: August 22, New York, NY
Just like other cons, this one is designed for people with a wide range of interests and levels of experience. It doesn’t matter if you are a seasoned coder and designer, or a tech newbie. While this one is created for people who participate in the Jupyter open source project, anyone with an interest in open source will find something cool for them here. Plus, the con environment is supportive, friendly, and fun. You are sure to have as good a time hanging out with other attendees as you are at official events.
Sessions include flipped learning, an introduction to open source, and as you might expect a lot of stuff on Jupyter technologies. There will also be a speed networking session (yes, just like speed dating), a forum for community members, and other events.
TechBBQ: September 24, Copenhagen, Denmark
This two-day event is slated to happen near the end of September. It is touted as a tech startup summit by and for tech startups. This is not an event to sit back and learn either. Startups come to TechBBQ to network and pitch their business ideas. The event is also heavily attended by VC companies like Balderton Capital.
IT Arena: September 28, Lviv, Ukraine
This is rightly billed as the biggest IT event in Eastern Europe. As of this writing, organizers are expecting 2800 attendees and 100 startups to show up. This year speakers will be there from SingleGrain, Microsoft, Gitlab, Readdle, Grammarly, Samsung, SAP, Google Cloud, and Soundcloud. There’s just no way you could walk away from this event without some great new insights and connections.
Inbound: September 4, Boston, MA
Inbound is a marketing and sales event. However, since this has niche has emerged as one of the most technology forward there is, nearly any tech company can get something great from attending this event.
Make no mistake. This is an in-demand event. Speakers include Deepak Chopra, Shonda Rhimes, the founders of HubSpot, Tarana Burke, and Troy Carter. Those are just a few of the big names, but the sessions are hardly celebrity fests. They cover using social media tools, reaching out to non-English speaking audiences, scaling up your SAAS, using AI to automate your sales funnel, and much more.
Quick Tips For Your Trip
If you’re like most people, you’re probably limited to one or two events a year. When you go, you want to make the most of it. Here are a few tips:
- Register early to save some money and get into the best sessions.
- Join any online forums related to the event. People will have great tips on sessions you can’t miss, and time wasters to avoid. You’ll also have some cool people to connect with while you are there.
- Bring your team and divide and conquer. Choose sessions that are the best fit for your talent and your company’s needs.
- Don’t sit in your hotel room, network! Join the after-hours get-togethers. Invite other people to breakfast before the sessions. Connections are nearly as important as learning new tech.
These are the events that have us excited this year! What do you think? Do you have your bags packed and ready to attend one we haven’t mentioned this year? We’d love to know what events you never miss. Who knows, maybe we’ll even do a crowdsourced update to this post!
