About the Client
BookNook is a hybrid education technology platform that weaves together custom texts with a structured curriculum and engaging educational games for teachers, families, volunteers, paraprofessionals, and community members, to massively expand students’ access to powerful personalized learning.
The Situation
We engaged in a series of conversations with the client, in order to clarify goals, specific details, timeframes for completion, and any other unique needs and specifications. Once all of this was clarified, we were ready to put together the perfect team to complete the project as planned.
BookNook needed to convert its e-books into HTML and CSS formats, and in a way that would not change any of the original look, style, size, color, font, line spacing, and any other elements of the original content. We had to develop a highly-scalable and customizable process for converting over 1000 books for the client, in order to do so under very tight deadlines.
The Solution
We assembled a turnkey team that would be able to quickly and precisely handle the full scope of BookNook’s requirements. The team leader collaborated with the client to identify each phase of the project, the sequence and timeframe for those phases, and the schedule for regular reporting and approval.
The team developed its own iterative process for project completion. The team members met daily to report individual progress, to present issues, and to engage in collaborative problem-solving to resolve those issues. The variety of skill expertise of team members meant that each was able to lend their knowledge to the project, in order to achieve the quality our client needed and provide optimum time to market.
Throughout the project, the team tested each iteration for efficacy, and BookNook received regular updates and product drafts for review and comment. This ensured that any bugs were fixed along the way and that the final products were exactly as the client wanted.
The Results
The system our engineering team designed and implemented, along with the proprietary tools it utilized, resulted in the perfect solution for our client, BookNook. The conversion of the initial e-books met all their requirements and provided the quality in format our teams are known for.BookNook could use what we had developed to accomplish the conversion within their own system.
“BrainBerry has been an incredible partner here at BookNook, performing the engineering work required to convert e-books into an HTML and CSS format supported by our system. Without their help we would not have been able to deliver the content and curriculum our customers needed. Their communication was excellent and work was always completed on time and very high quality.”
